Type of Lesson Plan: Direct Instruction

Standards
Content Area: Physical Education
Standard #:1-Students demonstrate competent skills in a variety of physical activities and sports.
Benchmark/Grade Level Expectancy: As students in grades 2-3 they will be able to demonstrate mature patterns in the fundamental manipulative skills: throw, catch, trap, roll, dribble, strike and volley.

Overview
Objective:
All students will be able to know how to play scooter hockey, for a leg workout and coordination and student engagement.

Assessment Plan:
After properly warming up, the student will pass the ball back and forth with a partner. They will then start using a scooter, and the goal is for them to be able to feel how different it is to be playing hockey on a scooter. They will be able to understand what they need to do in order to keep control of the ball while sitting on the scooter.

Learning Context:
The students will have already played regular hockey but this might be the first time they have played scooter hockey, so they will be beginners, and they might need a couple of days to practice.

Reteaching Activities:
If I am noticing during the game that they are all having trouble with a certain concept, then I will stop the games and show them what they can do better, so that they can truly understand what they are doing wrong.

Extension Activities:
If they are having a lot of trouble still, then the next time they come to class, we will do scooter hockey again and I will really elaborate on the things that need work on and those individuals that are really struggling, I will work with personally.

Sample Student Products:
I will video tape the entire lesson making sure to get the game as well so we can see how well they did. It will be attached.
